The Unseen World
The king of Aram was enraged because of this matter . . . he sent horses,
chariots, and a massive army there. They went by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God got up early and went out, he discovered an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?” Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed, “Lord, please open his eyes and let him see.” So the Lord opened the servant’s eyes. He looked and saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2 Kings 6:11-17)
If God opened your eyes today to see the unseen world surrounding us, what would you see? Look up, look around. They're real. Christ made unseen things that are as tangible as the seen (Colossians 1:16). We're not the only ones here, and compared to them we are weak and fragile (Psalm 8:5). They see us. They approach us, but we have not been privileged with the sight to see them. But if we could . . .
We would see the angels ascending and descending between heaven and earth (Hebrews 1:14).
In the past they came to deliver messages, to punish the wicked and rescue the righteous. Today their focus is on ministering to the people of God. Seek out the people of God and know the angels are working in that vicinity.
We would see Satan on the hunt (1 Peter 5:8).
One day he will be delivered over to the lake of fire, which has
already been created and waiting his arrival (Matthew 25:41). But until then, God lets him roam, going to and fro from the earth. He travels. He's been here, through our streets and in our homes.
The Devil also has his own angels (Matthew 25:41).
These demons teach and seek after followers (1 Timothy 4:1). Like they devil, they have freedom to tempt us and try us. They're real, and they walk among us. I suppose that, like the angels, demons would be found near the people of God, since they are the last men on earth who have not yet given into the darkness of sin.
These things are not happening somewhere else. This is not a reality that exists on another planet or in some far-off place called "heaven" or the "spirit world." It's happening in our world.
"Lord, please open their eyes and let them see."
